TOGEAN ISLANDSThe Togean island is a picturesque acrhipelago of seven primary islands within the Indo-Pacific "coral triangle" in Central Sulawesi. The islands host a tremendous amount of land and marine biological diversity. Many of the animals found in the Togeans can be found no where else on earth or are endangered, including two species of primates and the end the extraordinary babirusa, or "pig deer" the dugong, and the hawksbill sea turtle. A result of its natural resources and location, tourism to the Togeans has increased annually dramatically in recent years. The Togean ecotourism Network was formed to address the potential threat such an increase may have on the island environment and to combat destructive fishing practices in Togean waters. For those who are interested in the exploration diving and are prepared to endure a though journey to find it, the Togean are a must. These island located in Tomini Bay, are worth the journey.
